On Door's Steps
On Door’s Step

I see a smile within my mind
a lovely smile so entwined
beneath such lovely long dark hair
a woman sweet - sitting there

Who casts a hold upon my heart
and whom some day I dare impart
a kiss upon her softness sweet
a poem for her – such kindness deep

Should day arrive and we should touch
her gentle face my hands would cup
and kiss I would with gentleness
upon her lovely face I caress

Her smile to me is filled with glee
her eyes a glow - her heart doth sing
that I should be so lucky too
receive a kiss - melts me in two

Alas my dear there's little chance
but dreams of you forever enhance
my heart to carry on in thought
that lucky me has your eye caught

In moments time across the days
and perhaps from you the slightest gaze
upon a cloudless rainy night
my heart will cry for just your sight

You walk within my dreams of peace
and such will matter not to me
for in my heart I'll never forget
the woman I met upon the steps

At moments glance and just for you
that smile, those eyes a chance with you
to reckon all my life 'till death
I met an angel on door’s steps

So cry not my sweet of lovers lost
the beauty in you is not forgot
and some day it will be my wish
the love you seek - and me forget

It is the way of man and woman
to cross a path some short - some long
but in time the beauty I beheld
will some lucky man not quell

The love within your emptiness
and fires will burn and you'll forget
all others that you knew in past
then lock together love that lasts

If someday we part our ways
remember sweet there will come a day
when at a moments passing stranger
reminds you of this day that lingers

Perhaps sometime when another’s touch
caresses my face with caring love
she'll wonder of my thoughts as you
who was this woman - I will remember, too...
