Will Robins Sing
Do you still think of him in June
the month he went away from you,
abandoning all the hopes and dreams
for the two of you – forever it seems.
His death did close the final chapter
yet it seems there is something after,
remnants of a life before we met
still it seems - you hold regrets.
So what went wrong in your past life
was love lost ’midst all that strife,
the yearnings seem to haunt you still
do candles burn - for him still?
I cannot fight a ghost of the past
I will not try, I did not cast,
the spell upon your heart as such
it’s obvious - this is no old crush.
So I must ask you to choose
between your past and present too,
carry on and leave behind
this lingering presence – yours not mine
Your eyes peer out the window today
are you recalling all the dismay,
that marks you still unto this day
let go the past – I am here to stay.
Your hand is warm when held in mine
but I can feel after all this time,
the other is still held by him
your love inside – our future grim.
My patience does wear thin you see
our love is weak while chapters seem,
to be unfinished within your heart,
close the book – or I will depart.
Then what will you recall of me
was it love that could have been,
will your hands hold each of us
will robins sing – as you think of us?
